Christmas and Halloween

For Christmas and Halloween projects the following texts have worked very well.

Mouse’s Christmas Wish A Christmas Wish Come True
Judy Moody and Stink, The Holly Joliday Christmas at the New Yorker (great stories for intermediate and upper intermediate level)

Spooky Stories and other Halloween books:

Ten Best Ghost Stories Ever Ten Best Horror Stories Ever
The Best Ghost Stories Ever (Scholastic) Short and Spooky

It’s too frightening for me

I like to read this book to the kids in class. In October, before Halloween, I read a few pages to the class at the beginning of each lesson. The book contains good descriptive language and excellent examples of the past progressive tense — just what I need at that level.

Froggy’s Halloween (a picture book for year 1)

Mr Tickle and the Scary Halloween
