For Christmas and Halloween projects the following texts have worked very well.

| Mouse’s Christmas Wish | A Christmas Wish Come True |
| Judy Moody and Stink, The Holly Joliday | Christmas at the New Yorker (great stories for intermediate and upper intermediate level) |
Spooky Stories and other Halloween books:

| Ten Best Ghost Stories Ever | Ten Best Horror Stories Ever |
| The Best Ghost Stories Ever (Scholastic) | Short and Spooky |
|
I like to read this book to the kids in class. In October, before Halloween, I read a few pages to the class at the beginning of each lesson. The book contains good descriptive language and excellent examples of the past progressive tense — just what I need at that level. |
Froggy’s Halloween (a picture book for year 1) Mr Tickle and the Scary Halloween
